Sounds of Silence

That effing Ernesto. Who blasts techno music at 10:30 in the morning on a Wednesday?
My mom is here and she is sewing and listening to a sermon on the radio. Well, probably on her iPhone, but from here it sounds like the radio.
I feel like I am back in 1934. On bed rest.
Except that I can hear Ernesto's friggin' music and I am sure they didn't have techno back then.
It's extremely windy and cloudy out.
And the cat is 2 inches from me, which is where he has been the entire time I have been home.
He loves it. He's got a bed rest buddy.  It's affirming his life style to have me here.

I have been spending the morning taking things in and out of my shopping carts to find the best deals.
I have also looked up chicken recipes and text a few of my girlfriends about 2450 times.
I have good friends.  They have not yet said, "Melissa get your finger off the keypad.  We have real lives going on here."
I have never been one to keep my cell phone alerts on, but I anxiously await every bing, beep and blip.
Ooh!  New e-mail! Ooh! It's a Pocket Your Dollars update!  Oooh!  Zulily has 30% off tutus!
I mean seriously, this is what I am living for right now.
Sigh.
I really have nothing new to report. I have missed five days of school and 3 conference nights.  I realize that soon people will not even remember whether I am gone or not, and I will just fade into the background.  Teachers are fickle people. They move on quickly. It's all those curriculum changes. We don't get really attached to anything, except our classroom furniture.
"This is MY trapezoid table. It's mine. I have moved it to five different classrooms. Back off."
So I think I will find some lunch and I'm waiting for the mail because I think the first season of Parenthood is showing up.
Honestly, this blog has been so exciting, I can see why you'd want me to keep going...but you understand...
