Hot Mama..Well, not exactly...

I am eating cereal with a giant serving spoon. This is because we only own four spoons and two of them I took to work and haven't brought back. We are going to have car seats before we ever have a matching set of silverware. Is this normal?

I have been out of the blogging business for awhile. I am not going to lie: I was in the dumps.
Partly this was due to a cold that lasted for three and a half weeks..Have you EVER heard of this? We spent two Saturdays in a row at Urgent Care trying to figure it out. I really know how to show someone a good time on the weekends..whew!
Apparently it was walking pneumonia.. And NO this whole blog isn't going to be about my health problems.. YAWN..but latetly I have only had enough energy to teach my middle schoolers and grow a baby.

But TODAY! TODAY I feel GREAT! I have been cleaning since Will went to work. I like cleaning without him..It isn't that he isn't helpful..I just have a WAY I like it done..and let's be honest..it's better than his way. Well, it is!!

Yesterday I bought my first MATERNITY clothes. I am almost 14 weeks along and my stomach is not even close to what it used to be. This is okay..I am getting used to it. AND Gap Maternity is heaven! Do you know that they have pants without a WAIST? It's just this soft stretchy panel..AHHHH..Heavenly..I am not quite ready for those pants yet..but I am close..and then LOOK OUT! Everyone is going to hear about it:
"Look at these pants! I mean, there's NO waistband..my stomach is FREE! I am SO comfortable. Can you believe this?"
"Um, Ma'am, there are several customers waiting behind you..Could you just put your items on the belt please?"
"Oh, sorry."

As we were shopping, we came across a store called Hot Mama..I'm in. Are you KIDDING ME?
A store..for HOT Mothers? YES!
NO.
Disaster.
"Can I help you find anything? Have you ever been to Hot Mama before?"
This as we walk throught the door..so obviously I did NOT look like a Hot Mama who just naturally shops at a store like this...
Well, I taught all day..and I didn't have time to wash my hair and my jeans were too tight with my belt so I took it off and MAYBE my sweater was a little small...
"We're just looking."
"We have some marvelous clothes that can be used for both maternity and after!"
Thank you. I have 194 days left..I am not thinking about after.
"It's really important to feel your best during these important months, you know."
THIS is where my shopping experience at Hot Mama came to a screeching hault.
The saleswoman was at least 6 feet tall...lithe, slender, model-esque..There is no WAY in HELL she had EVER been even CLOSE to pregnant. She could have no earthly IDEA what it is like to wake up and feel NORMAL and by the end of the day feel like a bloated whale! (I am still trying to figure out how I gain 10 pounds in water weight during the day. Am I eating straight salt??) Anyway, SHE obviously had just finished with a photo shoot for Vogue..she would have no time for pregnancy. Yechhh..
We left quickly. I didn't have $225.00 to spend on a pair of maternity jeans, anyway. We need to eat this week.

"You're my hot mama."
He always knows what to say..Actually one of the best parts of this whole pregnancy thing is Will..and his reaction. He actually is looking FORWARD to my huge stomach..he is EXCITED about my pregnancy look. This is good..this helps. Maybe he fell and hurt his head and didn't tell me, but I am a lot more comfortable about this whole changing body thing because he makes it so nice for me..

Two weeks ago, we had another ultrasound. Being 34, I wanted to have some genetic counseling and extra tests. This is probably another reason I haven't written much. Not knowing if everything is okay with your baby causes a little bit of anxiety. The blessed thing is a I am marrying a strong, stubborn Irishman..this is GREAT for the genes..This should definitely cancel out my passive French genes. However, we now know that we are having a STUBBORN baby, as well, if the ultrasound was any indication.
The point was to get a good picture of the baby's neck. This needed to be done by having the baby face the camera. Oh not a camera camera..whatever takes the pictures of the ultrasound..ANYWAY..She/He wouldn't roll over. (I still think it's a girl) She stretched, she flipped once..which was really quite acrobatic of her..maybe she will be a gymnast! But she wouldn't turn completely over and stay that way..In fact, she put her back to the camera, and I can't quite be sure, but I think she crossed her arms, stomped her foot and said, "I am NOT taking pictures today! I didn't sleep well..I have bags under my eyes. This is NOT the day for pictures."
So she has a little of her mother in her, already! And A LOT of her father!!
Our tests were completely normal..we are healthy parents (thanks to our families) and our baby seems healthy too.
So I guess I can get excited now..not that I wasn't, but REALLY excited..without as much worry..

I love my Will more than anything and this baby is simply amazing, and so are those PANTS!!! Honestly...NO WAIST!!!
Actually I do feel kind of like a Hot Mama...hmmm..
