The Bird, the Bees, Baseball and Compliments
I watch the animals in our backyard a lot from our deck. I didn't have a deck in Uptown. I had an alley. I sat in it once this past spring and I almost got hit by a car that decided to drive down it illegally. Sometimes Shaun and I would sit on his roof last summer and I loved this. But his crazy neighbor Gayle used to come up there and say things like "It's dangerous to sit up here," or she'd just wander around. Really it was all Shaun's fault because he was the one who carried her up three flights of stairs when her back was hurting, so I think she was secretly in love with him.
ANYWAY, I missed having a deck, and so moving to Minnesota's best kept secret finally gave me a chance to reconvene with nature and sit on my very own deck. We have a Hummingbird feeder, an Oriole feeder, and two regular-type feeders. If you are not interested in this, than just scroll ahead, but it doesn't get much better this installment, so you may just want to go to another blog..thanks for caring.. but I am really proud of our bird feeders because we actually have birds that show up. I was worried for awhile. We had a couple of days with no customers and we spent a lot of time just peeking out there.."Anything yet?"
"Nope."
"Damn."
My favorite are the hummingbirds. Will named one Melissa. I am not sure if this is a compliment. Is this a compliment? I am going to take it as a compliment. So shut up out there.
Anyway, I have loved watching these birds. Some days it's like a Walt Disney cartoon and I look around like "Are you kidding me? Shouldn't someone be filming this?" Because there will be like 45 different kinds of birds and the chipmunks will be frolicking and the squirrels will be running up and down the trees and seriously there should be violin music playing or SOMETHING!! Anyway..I know it's not exciting to some of you but when you haven't had nature like that it's pretty great. And the mean chirping bird hasn't been back to wake me up since Will yelled at her.
I am not impressed with the bees. They are DUMB. They keep flying into the big Oriole feeder, getting drunk, and dying.
I know they can't resist the "good" stuff..but REALLY..get some help, why don't you??? Get out before it gets that bad! I am not good about addictions. I have no time for that kind of thing..sorry. Oh I am sure that is going to make someone in AA who is reading this really mad, but go read some other blog then!
Will was BRILLIANT last night at the baseball game! He got to throw out the first pitch. Perhaps I am a little biased because I am head over heels in love with him, but he really was grand. I even took some video footage of the pitch. WELL! Maybe someday our kids will want to see it! GOD!
Anyway, when we watched the footage, I didn't realize how excited I was..there is a lot of ME yelling and whooping and carrying on...really I should probably tone it down a little..but I just LOOOVE him so much.
The other night we watched Wedding Crashers. "Honey, you remind me of her." Will points to red-headed actress on screen.
"I do? Really?" Warm glow in my heart as I watch expectantly to see what wonderful character is going to unfold before me. What noble kind-hearted things will this girl do in the movie?
Vince Vaughn to Owen Wilson: "We gotta get outta here; I've got a stage five clinger."
"WHAT??!! THAT!! That's who I remind you of? The stage five clinger girl????"
"Hahahahahaha! I'm just kidding! It's funny! You just have some of her tendencies." As actress stomps around with her fingers in her ears throwing fit in front of her father.
WHAT??!!!
I am not sure if this is a compliment. Is this a compliment?
I am going to take this as a compliment. So shut up out there.
Anyway, here is Will at the game. And a picture of our backyard..if you get out your microscopic lens you can just barely see a yellow finch. Oh, you won't be able to see it, so don't try.
